Here’s why I like Norwegian Wood, Kafka On The Shore, and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.

These Murakami novels, like all the others, guide you through a dark, bizarre, dreamlike territory. There’s so much wisdom, serenity, and warmth present in his work that you can’t help but admire his rare novelistic imagination and its magical realism.

Just finished reading Norwegian Wood. Kafka was my first Murakami and I was glad that I got the taste of magical realism in the best possible way. Norwegian Wood, on the other hand is depressing, moving, yet remarkably beautiful.I just sat still for some time after I read the last page. I am going to hold this one close to my heart. Thanks a tonne for your recommendation.

Murakami has this unique and recognizable technique with words that you'd instantly know "this is Murakami!!!". It's like he makes the mundane more interesting. His ideas, his thoughts reaches out to you in a deep, almost spiritual level.

I find myself yearning more of his works because, boy, does he make this impact in your daily life that's impossible to forget even if you tried

Very nicely described! It's really hard to explain the magic of Murakami's style to people oblivious of his works. You explained it beautifully.
I've read "Kafka on the Shore" and "The Hard Boiled Wonderland and The End of the World". Looking forward to treating myself with "1Q84" on my birthday :)

One thing I wanna add is that you should only read Murakami's work if you're comfortable reading about dark themes such as loneliness, suicide etc. 😅
