Verne Gagne never worked in "sports entertainment" a day in his life. He was a master of the art and sport of professional wrestling. RIP

Too young to know who he is but it just strains my heart when athletes die.Guerrero, Benoit, Paul Bearer, Mae Young, and Warrior. R.I.P Verne Gagne

I'm pretty glad that even the people who don't know who he was honor him in the comments.

R.I.P. Verne!

His Rivalry with Nick Bockweinkel was stuff of legend! Verne is underrated because of the likes of Billy Graham, Bruno Sammartino, Buddy Rodgers, and Other Great Wrestlers Of The Terrirtory Days. #RIPVerneGagne

Verne Gagne was the promoter for the AWA promotion based out of Minnesota during the territory days. He helped facilitate something called Hulkamania with a young Hulk Hogan back in 1982, 2 years before the first Wrestlemania where Hogan reached a new pinnacle in the world of pro wrestling. Other legends like Scott Hall, Mean Gene Okerlund, Curt Hennig, and Rick Rude came out of the AWA promotion under the guidance of Verne Gagne, RIP

R.I.P Verne Gagne not a lot of people know about you, me neither but its cool to see that the WWE is honoring those unknown people who made sure that the business is what it is today thx to you we wouldn't have Sgt, Slaughter,  Ric Flair and Bob backlund the all time greats, anyway Gagne you deserve a proper respect for the dedication that you had for the business

Verne's training regime was ridiculously difficult. Going up 10 flights of stairs on your hands while your partner barrel wheeled you up, then carrying your partner on your shoulders and going up and down those 10 flights, taking 1000 bumps a day, then hitting the ring ropes running with no shirt on sisal ropes as your flesh was ripped off your back... Verne made IRONMEN! Thats why Flair and Ricky Steamboat where so fit even in their older years.

without Verne Gagne there would be no Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan. Verne truly impacted wrestling unlike anyone else. R.I.P Verne Gagne
