I always say that Home Alone is probably one of John Williams' best works, with his score to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone being the best of all his writing. Kinda flies under the radar compared to other films he's scored - some people don't even know HA1 & 2 are in his discography. Williams is uniquely able to pair complex together and it definitely shows in Home Alone. The finale to both films makes you feel like it's Christmas morning in your childhood home. His variation on a somewhat annoying (in my opinion) Christmas carol is genius. Also his mock "Trepak" that he pairs to rush to the airport in both films is brilliant, especially considering most films just stick the Tchaikovsky score in scenes like that instead of coming up with something original.

The transition from emotional mood to battle mode of Kevin, always a classic . John Williams ' genious. Is a fugue - baroque style composition . Orchestration on point. '' Dies Irae '' theme always in the composition . Another X-mas in the trenches !! Beautiful performed Marc .

Wow, 1:04 is my favorite part. John Williams seems to bring so much incredible orchestration into every scene he scores. This kind of intricate orchestration is very rarely written for films we hear today.

The back and forth fun between the trumpet and horn was beautifully performed, Marc. As always, great work!

I've never listened to this cue attentively, until now. And I gotta say that to me, it's even better then "Setting The Trap" from the first movie (even more breathtaking counterpoint and melodic inventiveness this time around), which I guess is Williams' musical bow to the idea that Kevin devises more complex and deadlier booby traps than last time.
