Finished my first half marathon two days ago. It took me 2h 33min (still a newb, a bit overweight at 96kg). The first 10km were very good, I was feeling great, and even overtaking some people, then it hit me, my legs gave up. The last 5km were pure suffering. My cardio was ok, i could talk easily the whole time, and wasn't gasing out, it was just that my legs went full lactic acid, and I could not feel them anymore. (I couldn't walk for a day after). It dropped my pace significantly, and many overtook me. Sometimes, the running muscles may not keep up with the cardio. Anyways, a sub 2 hour half marathon is my goal now.

Thank you guys for doing this. The plan looks solid and absolutely a got workout. I would like to add something that is not a workout tip but more a mental thing.
On a SUB 2 Hour half marathon, at the start line do not start up front or close to it because that's where the faster runners are. Start almost all the way in the back.
During the race you will pass more people and that will give you a mental boost. If you start up front you will be passed by a lot of runners and that will feel discouraging during the race.
Also. Pick a target in front of you that goes about the same speed as you and try to (slowly) catch up to it. Keep doing that during the entire race.
Best time for me 1:52:18 and it actually was not that hard. :-) Felt Great.

Finished 1:49:55 in my first half marathon! Didn't really train for it, but I'll definitely do that for a full marathon. My target now is 3:30, keep a 5 min/km pace, will look into your app!

Hey guys thanks so much for this and all your videos. Just ran my first Half Marathon today and did it in 2.06. Super pleased and grateful for all the learning you provide on this channel.

Can I just humbly ask less experienced runners that are trying a half marathon - please don’t get near the front of the pack on race day. I’ve literally seen people start walking at less than a mile in and blocking traffic and it’s so irritating to people that are trained and ready to attempt a goal. It’s good to sign up for a race but please keep in mind some people are really trying to keep a specific pace. It doesn’t buy you anything to get near the front.

I watched this video, "Half Marathon Pacing Strategy, " and "Half Marathon Race Day Tips and Logistics" repeatedly and followed the advice, and ran my first half marathon 1:48:03. Without these videos, I wouldn't have been able to do this. I can't appreciate enough. Thank you so much. I started to watch "How To Run A Sub 4 Marathon" and aim at running my first full marathon in 4 hours.

1:51:30 today for my first half marathon.
Motivational story :I start and after half km a chest pain make me stop, uturn and going back home. Then i start slow pace heading home and i change my mind and i told myself to try 5k. After 5k (25min) start feeling better and i said myself :let's go for 10k. Between 7th km and 8th km i tripped and fall all over the place 😂😂😂 done my left knee and i though that's it. 3-5sec i was on the floor but i picked myself up and i said :if i will recover for next 2km I will try 21 km.
I felt tired for last 5km and very tired for last 100 m 😴👆🙏

I did my first half-marathon yesterday with having only had seven weeks to train for it. I had thought based on my long runs I’d end up at around a 2:12 for my finishing time. When I got across the finish line, I ended up with 1:50:21 and left more impressed with myself than ever. I was feeling like running out of energy towards the last like 3 miles, but somehow I managed to stay at a consistent pace even with a few walking breaks in between.

If I ever try this again, I will be sure to give myself more time, and I will consult your videos because they are plenty helpful.
