Whether you’ve already visited the enchanted Galapagos Islands or have always wanted to, in this talk we’ll look at why these islands are so interesting and so important for so many reasons. We’ll look at the geology, ecology, and even the economics and current political issues in the islands, as well as their central role in the history of science.

About the Presenter:

A geologist by training, Barbara Murck completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University, and her graduate degree in Geology at the University of Toronto. For the past ten years, Professor Murck has co-taught a field course in Ecuador for the University of Toronto’s Summer Abroad program, which sees students spend one month in the field studying geology, ecology, environmental science, and international development in the Andes, the Amazon, and the Galápagos Islands.
