Free Get Help to Get Active service now available to Suffolk residents
OneLife Suffolk are commissioned by Suffolk County Council to deliver the Integrated Healthy Lifestyle Service across the county.
That means we work every day to help people to make healthy behaviour changes in an accessible, friendly and fun way! We know that one size doesn’t always fit all – and that is why we have developed our own psychologically-informed services to encourage our clients to make healthy choices that we are confident they can maintain. We are non-judgemental and we take pride in all of our services which include Stop Smoking clinics, Weight Management for Adults and Children, encouraging increased levels of Physical Activity, taking Health Walks and offering NHS Health Checks.
We are always reviewing our amazing services to Suffolk residents – after all, we are here to serve our local community. With this in mind we’re launching a new Get Help to Get Active service across the county.
The service is designed for ‘inactive adults’, doing less than 30 minutes of moderate activity per week and are living with a long-term health condition. The current long-term eligible conditions are as follows;
• Fibromyalgia
• Type 2 Diabetes
• Cancer and/or treatment for cancer in the last 5 years
• Cardiovascular disease (excluding stroke), including hypertension
• A disability that effects day to day activities on a long-term basis

Our aim is to support and encourage residents of Suffolk to increase your levels of physical activity by offering 3 levels of support. Starting from self-care signposting to psychologically informed behaviour changes sessions, dependent on the individual’s needs. Our in-house Active Lifestyle Practioners complete a short assessment over the telephone to guide clients to which level of support they require and offer on-going support through their journey with OneLife Suffolk.
Lisa Cox, Head of Service at OneLife Suffolk said “We’re delighted to be offering this additional service for Suffolk residents and we have specialist practioners available across the county to offer this vital support. With any long-term health conditions, it is often difficult to navigate the right activities in which you can or cannot participate in and hopefully with this new service we can help more people get active. The Get Help to Get Active service is not offering exercise classes we are offering signposting to activities suitable for long term health conditions or phycological support at our group and 1-2-1 sessions, so a unique service tailored to individual needs.”
