Back in 1981 when I was a Junior in High School my very close friend and I were at the local fair. There was the local John Deere Dealer had a display at the fair with an AO fly-wheel start. My friend playing around with the fly wheel rolled it forward and backwards a couple of times checking the compression, well the last time he rolled it forward he let it go it rolled backwards hit compression on the opposite compression and took off running. The Owner/Dealer came running out of the tent at the display, it scared both of us young guys. We both thought we really did something wrong, He just said don't shut it off as he had been trying to get it stated all day. He asked how we got it running and we told him what we did, he just started laughing, and said we would hire us as mechanics for the dealership as his regular guys couldn't get it running. It ran for the rest of the night at the fairgrounds until closing time. Just a great memory from the past.
