LYRICS:

This is my prairie, this is my home
I'll make my stand here, and I'll die alone
They can drill, they can mine o'er my smouldering bones
(Cuz) this is my prairie, this is my home

The water is poison, my calves are all dead
My children are sick, and the river’s been bled
They want a big coal mine, right thru Pop's grove
But this is my prairie, this is my home

I can't blame the miners or the guys drivin’ truck
For feedin’ their families and makin’ a buck
But take a close look at the stock that you own
Cuz this is my prairie, this is my home

I don't got the money that lawyers can buy
I don't got my own government's laws on my side
But I still hold the title that my granddaddy owned
And this is my prairie, this is my home

Nîya ôma nitaskî, nîya ôma nîkih
N'ka nipawan ôta n'kapon pimatisin ôta
Kwayask itôta manâcitâ askî

They can drill and they can mine o'er my mouldering bones
(Cuz) this is my prairie, this is my home

This is my prairie, this is my home
I'll make my stand here, and I'll die alone
They can drill and they can mine o'er my mouldering bones
(Cuz) this is my prairie, this is my home

Thank you so much to the artists that took part in recording this song. You can not imagine how much this means to me as an Albertan who has been fighting these open pit mines from the beginning. We didn't think we could fight this government until your voices came to support us. Thank you all. Future generations of Albertans will be forever in your debt.

Not sure who the native singer was on this, but she really, really needs recognition in addition to the other amazing artists. As an Alberta girl, I really feel this ... I love my creature comforts like heat and power, but we have advanced far beyond coal power and there is absolutely no need to destroy more of this pristine nature just for the almighty dollar.

Beautifully said, it can't be cleaned up after, the compensation pales compared to what is lost...

Caught the Corb interview and song on CKUA today and came here for the video. Honestly brought a tear to my eye. I love southern Alberta, it is my prairie and has been my home all my life. We have to do all we can to protect and preserve this great land. Thanks Corb and friends.

Interestingly, there was a segment on CBC The National, 10/19/21 covering this subject and with many of the people from this video profiled. Beautifully done, Corb Lund and the rest in the video. Born in Calgary, raised in Vancouver and love them both. The Rocky Mountains and the slopes are so important in so many ways. UCP greed and Kenney's overinflated ego must not be allowed to destroy this delicate environment. Keep fighting!

What a great song. One day I’ll get to see beautiful Alberta, meet the solid grass roots folks who live there, and maybe even see the Oilers play. Best of luck.

I've always thought that "I don't got the money that lawyers can buy" was such a brilliant line. Well done on the cover!
