The dot product of two vectors also called the scalar product of the vectors is the sum of the product of the components of the vectors in each direction. When the magnitudes of the vectors are known and the angle between the vectors is known, the dot product of the vectors is given by the product of the magnitude of the vectors and the cosine of the angle between the vectors.
