Christmas carols narrate the facts surrounding the birth of Christ and the Homage of the Magi.. Invariably, they praise the home and the family with good wishes for the household and its prosperity. In Greece on Christmas Eve (Dec.24), groups of children go from house to house in their neighborhood singing the carols. The singing is accompanied by the playing of triangles. Householders hear them through and reward the children with a small amount of money or traditional sweets of the season. Christmas carols are sung all over Greece and are distinguished by several regional versions.. The well-known text that is still sung nowadays is the following, with the first three stanzas being the most popular.

Jesus Christ was born today
in the town of Bethlehem

And to their faithfulness.
