In episode 3 of Season 3 of The Chosen, Jesus returns home for a religious festival and some important family business. He dines with his mother, plays games with his neighbors. But towards the end of the episode, everything takes a dark turn.

The sermon Jesus gives in the synagogue sparks an uproar that causes the people of his home town to demand his death. Now, of course, this is a moment straight from scripture. And it may feel quite familiar. But is there more than what we see on the surface?

Are there details in this episode - details from scripture and the first century context of Jesus - that we are apt to miss. Things that explain why Jesus kisses the doorpost before he walks into his home,
