I think there must be people close to satoshi who know who he is, possibly very public figures. But they understand the importance of respecting satoshi's privacy. And the benefit of keeping bitcoin neutral. Not knowing who is satoshi ensures bitcoin stays neutral. We all have our own bias. Keeping satoshi identity neutral protects us from us.
