Your comment about thinking of the people who made your spoons when you use them strikes home here, I have a number of tools inherited from my grandfather, father and father-in-law that always bring a smile to my face as I use them and remember them. Hope to grow some onions next year as our first try at shallots was a fail but we are on a steep learning curve, greatly helped by your good selves. Thanks, Rob

Have only just watched this now and going to have to try it, for years I have made toffee onions for with cold meat but they never keep as long as I’d like, this may just help me find the way! thanks sir 😊

Sounds like a good idea for those onions that just won't keep. Or might be stronger than you wanted for regular use, like my red onions this year.

Love your channel, thank you for all your videos. I made this recipe the other day and although I used less sugar at 800g, it was still very sweet. So next time I'll make it I'll use 400g or maybe less. Do you think itll still preserve ok?

I only found your blog yesterday. It is lovely. So much so I have posted your You Tube Link up on my blog tarragonnthyme.blogspot specifically with making the shoe polish but also the separate link. I usually make an onion and garlic marmalade from any onions that are past their best but i like the look of your recipe for caramelised onion chutney. My recipe has to be hot water bathed and once opened does not keep too well but it is tasty. Keep up the good work.
