Fun fact: Tax services like H&R Block and TurboTax lobbied the government to be as complex and arbitrary as possible. So you go down and pay these services for your taxes every year.

P sure we separated from the British over like a 1% tax ages ago. Now we sit at somewhere between 30 and 50% depending on bracket, not counting additional past income tax. Ridiculous.

So glad the government actually tells us how much tax we owe in my country, they even fill out the form to us. They also give you plenty of time to correct any mistakes before they start to take action. So it’s almost to the point where you’d have to be intentional about avoiding taxes before they take action against you here.
