This song is so beautiful. After an immense loss earlier this year, after COVID and the insanity that the world sometimes seems to be filled with, oceans rising, people suffering, it sometimes feels like life is cruel or a joke. But it isn't. It's very beautiful and fragile. I feel like the song carries a resolute sort of warmth and sadness that really captures this strange headspace: that the only thing that really matters in life are the others who join us in our journey, and that it is so easy to lose them, so why love? Why invest in anyone, if it will hurt beyond the endurable when loss occurs? And to come to the conclusion that despite the losses and the heartbreaks, they leave a mark on us that can never be forgotten or erased.
