I was watching another YT channel and the guy had a supermarket receipt from 4 years totalling £80.
He did the identical shop recently and the bill came to £120, an increase of 50%

Great point. Inflation for someone who barely meets expenses is not the same for someone who puts wine on the table every day and holidays skiing in Switzerland. It also involves the nature of the things individuals and individual families must buy like childcare. There are those who never have to put basic items back on the supermarket shelf because they had second thoughts. If you lump everything together from hardware screws to bread and yachts inflation might be only 1.5% but if you measure essentials that you are constrained to buy IT IS higher.

My father kept a safe deposit box with a big bank in the middle of London. In his will he provided us with the details. Upon visiting this major national bank we learned that they'd "lost it" and only offered us a pittance in way of compensation for whatever my dear old Dad had left us. Do NOT trust banks or any other third party for that matter.
