The difference after 5 years in technology is absolutely mind blowing. I had a five year break from optics and I'm absolutely stunned. The future of optics is bright and we can make a real difference in peoples lives.

I have the Z Series with Nikon and have to say out of all the PAL's that I have this one blew my mind. The moment I put these on I felt overwhelmed in the best possible way. The one thing I will say is in order to get the very best out of these you 100% need to do all the additional measurements as well as the Nikon app on a tablet!

Thanks for the great vid. Signed up for distribution locator. Have had Progressives for years.. now 66 yrs old. Problem-- went in for dry eyes and exam-- but Rx varies from two weeks ago: OD: S +0.75, C-0.50, A 115, Add +2.50, OS: +2.25, C, A, Add +2.50. While yesterday at a different optometrist came out as: OD: S +1.00, C -0.75, A 112, Add +2.50, OS: S +2.50, C -0.25, A 075, Add +2.50. I wasn't sure if the difference w/ Rx from two weeks ago was important; the second optometrist felt it doesn't warrant another exam. I'm now looking for where to purchase glasses. I had planned to go to Costco, but have been warned off due to reported poorer quality / older technology. Q: Am I well served to get yet another exam Rx? For best results w/ progressives, should I indeed select one off your progressive list (eg. more expensive) or is my Rx uncomplicated enough for mass-market progressives?

It’s a good description, along with the potential snags of this type of lens. Almost ten years ago, I started using them, and the time the optician was sceptical as to whether they would work for me, as my two natural lenses are quite different - both myopic, with normal long distance settings being -2 for one and -4 for the other. Your description of the optical performance around 7 minutes in makes sense. The ones made for me did work, but took a bit of adaptation. I’ve had a few different ones over the years. I think the latest ones were made by Essilor.

They were purchased via ASDA opticians, and were actually less expensive than some of the older ones from other traders. Still in working order, but it’s about time for a routine exam & perhaps a minor upgrade, if it is possible to improve on them a bit, given how I use them now.

So I'm watching this because it's been several years now and it's time for a new pair. This video was fascinating! Great job! Interesting and I watched the whole thing. You made this so interesting. I have a pair of Varilux progressives and it reminds me of when I bought them. I was picky than and am happy to say I will stick with them. Great info however.😊❤🎉

At my eye doctor, there is an optical area where I order my glasses. My first pair of progressives were great. I don't know the brand, but I really had no problems getting used to them. The second year my progressives were different. A lot of distortion. I went back and found out that they gave me a standard tier instead of the tier I had previously. Once that was fixed I was fine. This year I received new glasses with an updated prescription and when I put them on it felt like my eyes were cross-eyed. I took them home and tried them the next day but I could not get used to them, especially with looking at my laptop. There seemed to be a smaller area for far away as well, like a T shape. I brought them back to the place I got them and they told me that the far away seeing area was higher than in my previous glasses. Then he finally admitted that my insurance (VSP) tells them which brand of Progressive to use and that previously I had had another brand. If the customer is having issues with that brand, then they will get the one that works better for them. I had never realized that there were "brands" of progressives out there, so I looked up your video. I am not sure if my insurance will cover those better brands listed (the one he said I had did not sound like any of those). So now, I have to get my lenses reordered and hopefully they will be like the ones I had before.

I wish there's a super rich youtuber try all and give an honest review which one is the best

Absolutely stellar info, Doc - thank you! Tried progressives a million years ago and hated them, as I have very active, roaming eyes and the progressive placements and spacing was so generic and badly thought out as to be useless for me. Have since been using bi-& tri-focal lenses and they’re…just ok for my needs. But those Zeiss lenses sound…exceptional! I’m going to try to locate a provider here in the Asheville, NC area!💕

I have three pairs: one is Hoya Myself (US: Mystyle 3), and the other two are Zeiss Individual 3 Progressive. It's interesting
to see the differences.

I like how you e plainer each one has its own benefits. It really depends on the patients prescription and needs to match them with the type of lens that works best for them. Communication and the relationship between provider and patient is key. Take into account if you want to maximize insurance benefits that you may not be able to with these Elite progressives, expect to pay more for better vision. Depending on your budget there are comparable progressives that can still give you great vision without breaking the bank. I would love to see a video on sports lenses comparing Oakley, Maui Jim, costa, Wiley X and others that you might want to include in the mix. Specifically the talk about polarized versus non polarized lenses when fitting patients into sports sunglasses.

you never said which are best though. i was looking at progressive but returned for refund b/c the width of actual visual correction was extremely narrow, like the width of a pencil for field of view of corrected/clearness. I'm trying to find out which ones have the widest field of view in the transitional and reading sections but can't seem to find

12:38 Where's the video? I really need to know if I should get dedicated single vision lens for when I work on my computer.

I am about 9 months into trying to get my second pair of progressive lenses which were meant to be an upgrade. I chose Nikon based on friends and the Opticians recommendation. Three attempts and not able to provide a lens that worked correctly. Nikons digital formula determined that my left lens should be ground 30 degrees off axis which results in me having no peripheral focus to the left, I have to look across my nose to the right to get a full field of view. Nikon says they will not cut a lens without this axis correction that the computer recommends.

My old progressive lenses are cheep and not digital. They are cut on axis and work perfectly except for the smaller lower field of view at the bottom of course.

Optician has given up on Nikon for me and is trying Hoya. They have made the price upgrade at no cost to me. I hope it works, waiting for them to arrive. It is the line you mention in the video, though I didn’t get to do any survey, but answered a few questions.

Thanks for very informative video. Do you know anything about progressive lenses called: "Aurora 2 Surf all day"? What brand is this? I was offered them by optometrist store in Toronto as top quality lenses (very pricey too) for my knew prescription glasses. They made my glasses but I am not quite happy with the final result. I cannot find any information online. I wish I could see your video earlier so I could ask more questions while shopping for my new glasses.

Thank you for the video, it was incredibly helpful. Could you please tell me what inscriptions I should expect to find on Varilux Advanced progressive lenses? I’ve purchased the lenses, and all I’ve found engraved on them are two adjacent circles, along with the letter “T.” Below that, of course, is “2.00, ” which is my reading prescription, but I’ve also noticed the letters “CGL.” Do you think my lenses are genuine Essilor - Varilux Advanced?

Great video! Can you share how is the Varilux XR compared to Nikon Seemax Ultimate in terms of distortion?
