When Jose Mourinho was presented as the new Fenerbahce coach, tens of thousands of fans filled the club stadium in Istanbul with songs and flares.

Fenerbahce themselves have not won a title in a decade and Mourinho is there to try to change that. But he is joining the club at a time of great unrest. At a time when, in the eyes of some fans, there is a pervasive conspiracy working against them.

5:25 The players getting charged for fighting back against attacking opposition fans who invaded the pitch to do them harm is insane. Can’t blame the club or its fans to feel hard done by the Turkish football association.

5:20 Theres a huge amount of missing context on the team walking off the pitch. It wasn't their main team on the field; they had fielded their U19 team, and the plan was to walk off regardless of the score. This action was a protest against a controversial scheduling decision.

The context behind the protest is that Galatasaray typically underperforms in preseason. For instance, they recently lost 5-0 to Beşiktaş in the new Supercup. Despite Fenerbahçe being favorites, the Supercup match was unusually delayed to mid-season.

The official reason given for the delay was fixture congestion due to teams participating in European qualifiers. However, after a second delay, the match was rescheduled between Fenerbahçe's two Europa Conference League quarter-final legs against Olympiakos. At this point, Galatasaray was already out of European competitions, giving them a significant rest advantage. Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe faced the risk of exhaustion and potentially compromising their European campaign.

Fenerbahçe appealed to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for another postponement, citing the same reason of fixture congestion used previously. However, the TFF refused to delay the match again, which seemed to give Galatasaray an unfair advantage. In protest, Fenerbahçe fielded their U19 team and walked off the pitch, effectively stating, "If you want Galatasaray to win this badly, we can simply not play and let them be awarded the cup."

When you need to dominate, you call Pep, when you need to save a club you call Mourinho

Forza Jose! Started following Roma (and currently still do) because of Mourinho. Now I’m hooked onto Fenerbahce for the same reason. The Special One has a charisma and passion that is rare.

A great example of a conspiracy theory against Fenerbahçe happened in 2012 in championship match against Galatasaray in. Playing in home soil, Fenerbahçe needed to win but ended with 0-0 thus making Galatasaray the champion. After the match ended, nothing bad happened at first: Gala players celebrating and Fener fans either crying or applausing the players. But the police, which was mostly under Gülen control, attacked the fans for no reason and many people in the stadium, including children, got teargased, causing huge events inside and outside of the stadium. And remember, this was happening one year after Aziz Yıldırım got arrested for match fixing allegations (who was still in prison at that time).

You forgot
1) effects of team bus shot. Team standing before and after. How this incident changed the fate of the championship. How players ran out after the season ended….
2) gulen openly supporting galatasaray…
3) president (not fenerbahce president) openly stating that he is not supporting fenerbahce anymore whereas he was openly statibg that he was a fenerbahce fan long before…

As Beşiktaş fans, we say: We hate Fenerbahçe because we are Beşiktaş fans, we hate Galatasaray because we are human.
