People with larger hands tend to get problems trying to hold a Miyoo Mini for more than half an hour. It's okay for single hand use for rpgs, etc. But if you need two hands on there it's incredibly small and uncomfortable for larger hands. The RG35xx is very comfortable for me, while I can barely hold the Miyoo because it's so tiny. Given that I drop things a lot and the Miyoo is delicate, I am very happy with my RG35XX.

I have both and for me the 35XX is the better device... one thing I've noticed regarding the screens is their White Balance.. the Miyoo is set more towards warm, whereas the 35XX is set to a more neutral or cool temperature

A little bonus for the anbernic, you can actually get the damn thing. Last restock of minis a couple days ago was absurd, the stock vanished in like 10 seconds, there are no more units until mid February and probably the same blink and you miss scenario will happen again.

Honestly to me the deciding factor with devices like these are community support. Beyond the CFW, I want a Miyoo Mini because of SakuraRetroModding and their amazing skins/buttons. Right now they have a nice combo where you can make your MM look like a mini Playstation with the skin and buttons and I find that amazing. Really transforms your handheld into a fashion statement to go along with your enjoyment of retro games. If the RG35XX got that same kind of love I could see more people wanting that bigger device, but MM is so popular it makes sense it's getting these cool skins and buttons and I wish there were some for the RG280V.

Have you seen the Miyoo Mini+ leak on the miyoomini subreddit? I'm super hyped for that! Looks about the same size as the RG35XX. Hopefully they fix all the issues and just make a bigger Mini!

RG35XX is available officialy in my country. Compared importing Miyoo Mini and buying locally RG35XX the difference is about $12 cheaper for RG35XX. Even cheaper than RG280V

Thanks for this review - I just got the RG35xx in the mail yesterday after months of trying to get a Miyoo mini. While I think the miyoo would be "nice to have someday", I'm really content with the RG35XX, I think it's a bit more practical long term. I have a Pocket-Go that hardly sees any use due to its size, but I *love* it as a collector piece because it's so darn cute hah, so I'm chalking up my want for the mini to mostly novelty.

Have been juggling the idea of getting a miyoo mini for a while (was nervous about the whole AliExpress vibe) but after watching this video have decided to go with ambernic.... FYI, I let ambernic know that you were the content creator that influenced my purchase 👍 keep it up. Would appreciate a do's and don'ts of garlicOS.
Honestly I think the rg55 is the perfect nostalgic device for fans of the Gameboy pocket ergonomics. I'm not after an ultra powerful device but I am after a quality nostalgic gameplay and good quality device. Your comments on miyoos quality sold me on the ambernic. Hope ambernic have good customer service if anything pops up🤞 Looking forward to using it during loadshedding 😉

Nice comparison video. It’s a good problem when you have two excellent devices in terms of quality, pricing, and the custom firmware community. I am very happy that the RG 35XX is still in stock at the regular price. That was a very big influencing factor for me as I’ve been trying to get a mini for over a month with no luck. Hope Black-Seraph continues with the amazing Garlic OS updates.

As great as the Miyoo is, it's not attainable at the MSRP price and I don't think it's worth drastically overpaying for it. The RG35xx will be my first retro handheld now that GarlicOS is available for it and it's decently affordable. Great comparison video!

Well as much as I appreciate Anbernic's effort to battle the Miyoo Mini, the real comparison in my humble opinion is the RG280v. I own both units and I must say both the RG280v & the Miyoo Mini are the top 2 mini emulation handhelds that you can own right now. Nothing against the RG35XX, but the triggers in the back could have been better and the whole unit concept just felt rushed to counter the Miyoo Mini. If Anbernic makes a smaller version of the RG35XX like the Miyoo Mini but with better built quality, that would sell out fast considering how hard it is to get a Miyoo Mini these days. Not impossible, but hard to grab at retail unless you don't mind paying double, maybe triple for it. RG280v was made well.

Nice comparison! In my experience, the only ps1 game that the rg280v couldn't play was Vagrant Story. What ps1 games couldn't you play on your rg280v?
