Crippled operator could have gotten legs but got 2 robots instead that also have the same mortality as a human and if the active robot dies, the other one becomes e-waste? Why would the operator not be able to connect to the idle robot? That's like having your cake but instead of eating it, you buy a 2nd one and eat that instead.
