I just went from r5 5600x to the r7 7700x, even I can notice the increase, mainly in editing and rendering and timeline scrubbing, with the faster ram and 2 extra cores and more ipc its just a lot smoother

To me it looks like I hit a solid sweet spot with the 3700X system I built a little over two and a half years ago on a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. I really have no complaints but I do keep looking at Zen 3 CPU's just to keep a open mind.

Thank you. I'm still using my 1700x that I OC'd to 3.8Ghz. This was very inciteful on how much of a difference the generations have changed. My MOBO can handle a 5700x but I have to flash my Bios on my ASUS MOBO. I'm going to upgrade soon and this really helped, thanks. 😊

Wow! If I was on a 1700 right now I would totally make the jump to the 7700x. That’s why I’m gonna wait until the 15400 comes out to replace my 10400. 5 years is usually when you get a substantial performance gain over the previous 4 generations.

I'm still having a hard time justifying jumping to even a 5700x, my 3700x is rock solid @4.5GHz and idk if I really need 20% IPC and 200MHz as I don't see any stuttering or hanging/slowing down in any CAD software. Maybe SketchUp that still uses old code. Maybe a 5900x or 5950x when they drop in price, but that might not be for a while because 7000 series is being positioned as a tier above and not a replacement.

Far cry 6 Low Setting 69 fps on 1700x. Ubisoft fucked up optimalization so much. I bought 6950 xt to replace my 1080 ti and i had a ryzen 1800x processor, in all other games the frames did not go below 100 but even older ubisoft titles did not reach a stable 60 fps on high settings even though the cpu was not used 50%. The best thing is that on 1080 ti these titles had a stable 60 frames, apparently ubisoft decided that the difference in release time between the processor and the card is so big that it's not worth optimizing

Zen 4 has a built in curve optimizer that keeps her pinned at max temp that’s kinda in genius as long as you have a good cooler so you don’t lose frequency

There was a bigger jump in performance from 3700 to 5700 than from 5700 to 7700. Its best to wait for price drop on AM5 upgrade as hard to it justify upgrade based on price performance, unless money is not a deciding factor.
