If he played now, social media would destroy him.

Really great insight from a man who has had his own challenges. Thankfully we've moved on and see the world differently. But sad to look back and think quite rightly that Stan was written off in different ways. Absolutely amazing skill and ability. Great player

You are a compassionate man Merse. God bless you. Stan the man was one of the best strikers we’ve had in a Forest shirt in the past 30 yrs!

Robbie fowler said something very very similar to this. He was naturally gifted, you dont often get a big man like that with strength, speed and skill all at elite levels

Collymore was an incredibly naturally gifted talent.

He was an amazing striker. Nice to hear Merse give him that recognition.

I watched him at Southend at the start of his career. He was the best player I ever saw anywhere. He would ghost across the pitch - he got everywhere fast. When a ball came across he saw it faster than every player and spectator. He was teeing shots and hitting them as everybody was looking.

I feel for this guy, I have manic depression myself. I feel and behave the same way most days, many people think I'm arrogant and rude. I hope that everyone in the same situation can get the help they need to live a good life. Cheers

Damn that’s sad, I was unaware of that and have struggled with depression myself over the years. I’m a Liverpool fan and still remember that game against Newcastle in the mid 90’s. 😊

I'll always listen to what Paul Merson has to say. Cos he's lived it. He knows.
The bloke also has a bit of passion.
That's why I love Paul Merson 💙✌🏽

I agree. Saw him tear Wolves apart years ago when he was at Forest. He had everything.

He was the man back then. Cole went on to achieve great things but Collymore was way more better on his day.

Handed all his childhood dreams when signing for us his boyhood club & the team he supports yet that terrible illness effected him & evidently ruined his career, I remember when he signed from Liverpool for 7 million a massive fee in those days & we beat Liverpool 2-1 & Stan scored both going mental & kissing the badge in front of the Holte End.

What a talent Stanley Victor was.

I loved Stan at Liverpool. Really was rooting for him to do well and fulfill his potential. Like the support we give now to Nunez. So disappointed when he left. Still some great memories
