Test Driving 1957 Ford Thunderbird 312 V8 Tri-power Hot Rod

We thought it was time to take the 1957 Ford Thunderbird for a little drive through the country. This amazing automobile was restored and modified by Manns Restoration, in Festus, MO. It's a bit of a hot rod, with the 312 Y-block V8 equipped with John Mummert's aluminum heads, an Edelbrock tri-power setup, and a set of headers. For a car of this vintage, this thing will really scoot. That beautiful paint was sprayed by Manns' very own Jeremy Pruneau, then sanded and buffed to perfection by Craig Wimmer. Jarrod Vidacak, of Manns in-house upholstery shop, provided the amazing two-tone interior. This truly is one of the most beautiful Thunderbirds we have ever come across. We hope you find it interesting...thanks for taking a look!

Filmed at Manns Restoration in Festus, MO

The background track is "Green Onions", by Booker T & The M.G.'s. This video is not monetized, nor do we claim any rights to this song.

Hey Jeff and Jordan another great video ! I remember the Y-blocks well because my father had a 56 Mercury he bought new and it had a312 4 barrel a hot cam dealer installed and glass packs . Back in the day a lot of people called them boat anchors because of the weight, which was due to the construction of the lower portion of the block . But they were bullet proof and I don't remember many cars that could get around it. You fellows take care .

Oh my.  Awesome car and awesome production value on bringing the magic to my living room.  My Fords out in the garage are like dogs.  They want to see what is making this sound they hear.  Haha!  5 stars guys.  Really enjoyed it.

my dad had a t-bird as his first purchased car back in high school in the 1950s, then he had to sell it for the 57 chevy when he married my mom back in 1961 :)

Yup, that one turned out real nice.  A 'Green Onions' was a nice touch as well...

Beautiful car, Green Onions, reminds me of American Graffiti. Suzanne Summers would have looked even better in this one.

The 1957 Bird was the best bird ever. Was that the original car in the car?

Can you run a tri power on a ‘55 t bird without doing any modifications to the hood? I am picking up a pair of them and would love to add tri powers to them. Wasn’t sure if there will be clearance issues?
