CEOs: University degrees are becoming irrelevant!
Also CEOs: we would only hire those with a silver-spoon resume, preferably with a Masters

For those looking to build a career in tech, degree might not be necessary. But certain professions like Law(my area), Medicine, Pharmacy still require a college education.

My ex-wife was placed in her position in the IT department of a Law Firm by the Senior Partner because of her skills during a massive technology shift. She had the skills to helps the company make this move successfully. She remained there for almost 20 years. The firm later got a new HR director who looked at her resume and said she had no degree and had to be fired. She objected and explained the senior partner had placed her there well knowing what her degree status was. He had retired but still owned the major share of the company. He backed her against the HR newbie. The HR department lost in a way. During a later company restructuring her spot had been classified as needing a degree. But with the biggest stock holder in the company backing her she couldn't be fired. The deal she got was she had been with the company for over 20 years. She was asked to retire with a 2 year salary bonus. 2 year medical coverage and substantial retirement bonus for longevity. She took it as she was pretty well done with the company anyway and moved into a plumb job at another firm, all with better benefits.

I agree but sadly most companies use automated resume machines that throw away your resume if you don't have a degree And HR almost always post a degree as a requirement so .... I do agree that you can learn skills without a degree but it's rare to get a job without one.

I hope these major corporations/companies practice what they preach, because in reality they not only list degree as an absolute essential to apply for a job but also expect an above 65 and sometimes above 75% aggregate.

Elon : "Degree is useless"
Also Elon : "a PhD from an ivy league and 69 years of experience needed to work just above minimum wage in Tesla"

A university is just a group of buildings gathered around a library

If you're going into tech you don't need a degree. If you're going into other STEM fields you absolutely do.

most of the school on our country are starting to forget that information are becoming financially free and simply they're starting to turn into a middleman.
get info at google, price it up and tell it to students.

To the *worthwhile person* seeing this, your dream is not dead. Don’t allow the past and current pains and hurts stop and define you. You’re more than a conqueror. Rise up and put yourself together. Keep pushing your future depends on it. I wish you all the best in life ❤.

I think what people fail to realize is these super successful people that dropped out wanted to focus more on their companies. Those successful guys are the minority of the people that dropped out, while the majority failed or are living normal lives. Not everyone can learn on their own because they can easily get side tracked, not only that but not a lot people has access to internet connection or the equipment necessary for the jobs that they want.

Take for example the Philippines, most of the job requirements that is required to be part of any government branch are: you need to know how to read and write, be a Filipino citizen, etc. There's literally a walking meme running for President, he's super unqualified and isn't fit for the job. Not only that but there are many unqualified people working in the government.

I agree to an extent. Education is becoming more universal, There has to be a shift from knowledge to skills.
