You forgot one super important factor. Standard oil didn’t take over the oil market, he increased the number of people that could afford to use heating oil by something like 70% by providing kerosene. This is how SO became a huge player.
Also, he maintained this “monopoly” by providing oil products cheaply enough that even desperately poor people could use it for heat.
The end result of breaking up SO was that oil prices by the 20s was expensive and when the Great Depression hit, poor people were once again unable to heat their homes.

I'd like to mention that Rockefeller reduced the price of oil. We're all taught monopolies are bad but this was probably the only case where they had a positive outcome.
