I neglected to show the Get Books tab, which is one of the best features. On that, you can sort by book stores including the free options like Project Gutenberg or the Internet Archive. This allows you to download books directly into your library from inside the application. Just click that button and select the sources you want it to look for books and search. If it is free, it will be a download button, otherwise it takes you to the sales page to buy the book...note, however, that not all store options allow you to easily add your book into the library (i.e. Look for the free download option, or you can sort by that button.)

Well done. Thanks. The question still remains “How do I get my purchased amazon books into Calibre”? No nefarious reason just don’t want them to disappear if/when Amazon decides to act.

Thanks for sharing . Ive been using Calibre for years. For those not lazy to really care about their nature of access to content, it does a great job

Thank you for sharing this wonderful Application. I've already downloaded it and started moving my books over from my kindle library.

First 3 google searches has "calibre" pronounced as in "caliber".

Does the Calibre app for iphone/ipad sync all your content from the desktop Calibre? I don't need it to sync precisely to the same page. I think it may be a good version to use on my ipad instead of my kobo when I want to see the color pictures, i.e. a cookbook or travel book with great photography.

No, I'm tired of all these videos telling us to use calibre to change the format of our kindle books and none of them explain how to deal with ' unkown titles and authors' when adding them onto calibre. And why the added DeDRM plugin doesn't work.
I've tried for days and ready to throw my pc out the window.
All the videos I've come across say the same thing, you add and you convert, end of.
In the comments of these videos, I've come across people with the same problems as me, and yet no-one explains how to make it work.

Calibre does have bookmark syncing. You need to setup users. Once the user logs into the web portal, it will then sync their reading across any device.

I'm using the docker install, so not sure if it makes a difference.

Yes, there is even a plugin for Calibre that removes the Kindle DRM but it is complicated and doesn't work that good with a WINE prefix with the kindle reader and python as far as I can remember. It only worked in combination with the kindle reader and a Windows install for me back then.

Wish it had an option that allows linking the files instead of creating copies.

do you know of an open source ebook to audio reader?

Definitely should be pronounced “Caliber”…not “Cal-ah-bree”. That was very distracting. Also…pretty sure that Sigil should rhyme with vigil. Not however you said it. But I could be wrong.

somebody suggested i get calibre as amazon kindle has decided to cease the 'download and transfer via USB' option as i dont like to use wifi (i dont have it on my computer anyway), but as far as i can see calibre doesnt get me round that problem; have i understood correctly?

I have many books in Amazon Kindle format, tried to plug in Kindle to computer via USB and copy to Calibre and out of about 20 books I could only copy over 2 books because of the books not being in Amazon format but Kdf (or something like that). Anyway, the 2 books I was able to copy to Calibre I can't read because of DRM (or something like that). So, where do I buy books that I can read in Calibre? Kindle reader is not available for Linux.
