Hindustani music style is mainly found in North India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It exists in four major forms: Dhrupad, Khyal (or Khayal), Tarana, and the semi-classical Thumri. Dhrupad is ancient, Khyal evolved from it, Thumri evolved from Khyal. Dhrupad (or Dhruvapad), the ancient form described in the Hindu text Natyashastra, is one of the core forms of classical music found all over the Indian subcontinent. The word comes from Dhruva which means immovable and permanent.

Traditional Music Channel is for everyone who has a passion for music.

Music is an expression of human creativity. UNESCO reports that among all the performing arts, music is the most universal and is found in every society, most often as an integral part of other performing art forms and other domains of intangible cultural heritage.

Traditional forms of music are considered carriers of cultural heritage because they represent expressions and traditions transferred through generations of a community.

With recordings from more than hundred nations our collection of traditional music offers a staggering diversity of our humanity.

I'm a firm believer that the weather influence music in each country. Russian folk music is sharp and short and curt, like cold snow hitting you. you feel each note. Indian folk music hovers and lingers, like a mirage you can't truly grasp, but it still mesmerizes you.

Love it, keep the OG music alive.

I believe India has a completely different universe of it's own, from the rest of the world. All because of it's magical sounding instruments and mantra chants.

As a pakistani, I am in love with india. This music so magical and so peaceful. The people are so beautiful and nice, the dances aee amazing the clothes saari is so beautiful. India is the most beautiful country in the wolrd, with so many diffrent cultures which are completley diffrent to eachother but all of them are still so beautiful. What I also love is that india and Pakistan share one culture called punjab.

From 1st min to 5 mins: it is repeating "Rang Pichkari Mat Maaro". Pichkari is a water gun, inside which we fill colored water and throw at each other during festival Holi. Rang means Color. So, the above phrase literally mean "please (implicit), don't throw the colored water from the water gun at me." O man, it's difficult for me as well. As it turns out, this music seems to have originated from somewhere in Mathura & Vrindavan, India. Next phrase around 6:00 is saying "Ja rhi mai Jamuna jal bharne, kahe rokat, gulal fekat. Kalaayi mori chhodo" refers to a girl saying (with the innocence and cheerfulness of a girl, seems like she is saying it to her lover) : I am going to fill water from river Yamuna, why you're stopping me, why you're throwing gulal (color) at me. Leave my wrist please." It'll take a whole lot of time to translate everything, so just enjoy.
