Wastewater surveillance seems more economical and more practical for an early warning system.

I hate to say it America isn't ready for a lot of things. There are a lot of systems within the country that is falling apart from infrastructure to education to health system.

We weren’t even ready for the last one. Or the one before that. Or before that.

Dig the social aspect (trust, collaboration, transparency) and you can achieve anything. Normal people are feeling betrayed, because corporations got few times richer and they know there is conflict of interest.

When next pandemic hits - they will be just mad, because they will be clearly see that investors, board members, CEO's are getting just fine while working class is struggling AGAIN.

The money is there. Just look into the right pockets (Jeff's, Trump's, Pelosi's, etc.)

Anyone else feel like the past 2 years felt like 10 years? Feels like the last 2 years went by so freaking slow, at least for me.

My worst fear is, if we keep messing around with the Amazon Jungle, (for one example) something will come out of there that we will NOT be able to stop. Think if COVID had a 98% death rate, BUT it took three months for people to even know they had it. Four months later humans, as we know them, would all be dead. I fear that FAR more than a nuclear war.

There is a lot of money fighting this war on drugs, shift the resources. Legalize it. Prohibition doesn’t work.

I don't know about anyone else but that part about needing a better surveillance system to help monitor the virus spread? I do not like it when government bodies talk about surveillance. I'm not sure but I believe it was Ben Franklin who said anyone who would give up some of their freedoms to feel and be more secure deserved neither! Again not sure who said that but I agree with it 100%

Bright and Gottlieb need to head up a new agency, something like "Disease Preparedness & Communication." It should coordinate messaging from NIH, FDC, CDC, HSS, NIAID, etc. It must have the money/authority to take action and invoke emergency measures.

Yeah, maybe stop creating new viruses. Scientist... this title got negative connotation last year.

Surveillance needs to be clearly explained that it’s on the disease. It needs to be voluntary and morally encouraged.

But it's ready for all the cardiovascular disease that people die of every year. Why don't you post a video of why America isn't ready for no fast food and no sugar...because it would upset big money.
