How football player Brian Banks’ incredible story became a new film

Brian Banks, once a high school football star, found his life upended when he was wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. Five years later, Banks was exonerated thanks to Justin Brooks with the California Innocence Project. Today, the film “Brian Banks” tells this story starring Aldis Hodge, Greg Kinnear and Sherri Shepherd. Brian Banks and Justin Brooks join Salon’s D. Watkins on “Salon Talks” to discuss America’s broken criminal justice system and advocating for reform. “Brian Banks” opens in theaters on August 9.
