NEW Ducati Supersport 950 | Road / Sports Perfection?

preview_player
Показать описание
The Supersport 950 is Ducati's answer to its customers who want something sporty for the street but don't want the super uncomfortable position which goes with it. New styling for 2021 and updated electronics but how does this little V twin compare to the likes of the RS660? Could this be the perfect road bike?

The issue reviewers get wrong all the time is comparing peak HP numbers. Engines make power from tick over to redline. This 950 engine makes it about as perfectly linearly as an electric motor. The total power it makes across the rev range is considerably more than the 660.
But you are right that speed and acceleration are all power to weight. The lighter the bike, the faster it will go given the same power. Keep the 660 up in its power band and it will be faster. The nice thing about the Duc is the whole damn rev range is its power band.
In any event, I'm not trying to set any lap records. On a road bike, a little road hugging weight isn't necessarily a bad thing when it comes to comfort, confidence, and cutting thru a windy day. This reminds me of a smaller version of my ST4s. And that was one of my favorite sporty road bikes ever.
This one is giving me the itch...

I am so happy that manufacturers are making lower power supersports that are friendlier for road use. Like this one, the aprilia, new R7 (hopefully an R9 as well). What many riders dont know or even understand is how much fun lower powered bikes are to ride fast. 120hp+ is a good time dont get me wrong but there are times i would love to play around on something between 50-100hp.

Just about to trade in my 2018 super sport S in, has full akropovics on it, sounds immense and a lot of carbon, absolute stunning bike. Pick my new 2021 Supersport S up next week, can’t wait. Best road bike I have ever owned and I’ve had quite a few!

Mates have fireblades etc and unless it’s long straights you can keep up on say a day out to the coast. Had 152mph record on the clocks and 140mph up hill, on the track lol

Immense grip and feel with the Ohlins

Mirrors vibrate a bit, so what. 10/10 for me that’s why i have just bought another 👍

Some straight bars for us older folks with arthritic wrists like the tuono and its a must buy.

Yessir love my '21 Supersport 950S. That suspension is to die for. Done a few short trips around New Zealand on her already and what a joy to ride, even after a good 3-4 hours in the saddle. Mirrors are shite though but apart from that it's the best bike I've owned. It's a long termer for me for sure 🙂

Another great review Chops. I cannot for the life of me work out why you don't have more subscribers. Come on everyone, spread the word about LCR's channel and get him over 100K subscribers.

Nice review LCR, I’ve had my Ducati SS for 3 years and love it, the ride and comfort is superb. Ducati prefer to call it a sport tourer rather than a track bike. It’s pretty powerful and more than enough for the roads. It’s a great handling bike and a fine all rounder. Agree the mirrors are useless and disappointed Ducati haven’t fixed it on the new updated model.

Love my Supersport S, so comfortable, looks and sounds great with Termignoni can, sometimes referred to as Dads Panigale lol. Cheers Chopsy.

After much soul searching, I think this is going to be the bike for me in the future. I loved my Moster 797 but wanted something with a bit better suspension and just a touch more power. I also wanted a bit of wind protection but just LOVE the useable power and torque of the L Twin for the street. Plus, It's italian and has an 18, 000 mile desmo service instead of 7500 miles lol

Ducati gave me this bike for a test ride. I felt so fkn comfortable and safe on the 950s. This ducati going to be my next bike for 2025 for sure.

Definitely looks sharp. I'm coming to believe that the old standard bikes with a fairing made a lot of sense and that the current super naked bikes should go back to that. A fairing and screen on a sport bike with bars would be well received by me ;)

Having recently rode one of these, I can 95% agree with Chopsy here !
The styling is beautiful, the suspension absolutely fantastic, the brakes absolutely awesome, but not so keen on the lump in the middle ! Torque is good 👍🏼 feel it could do with a few more horses, nothing excessive, but a few more ! It is a bit vibey, but nothing excessive, mirrors are virtually useless, if they was to make this a slightly bigger capacity v4, I’d be first inline to buy one !

Great review! Big miss on this is no cruise control.
Ducati did it on the Multistrada 950 S, so there's no excuse. Even the BMW S1000RR has it, so too does the Aprilia RS660.
Aside from that I love this bike!

This bike looks so much nicer with double underseat exhaust

If you want a sports bike for the streets, this is a lot better option than the panigales, if you care about comfort. Essentially its just a monster in the clothing of a panigale. I test rode the older 939 supersport and it was plenty capable, but i was disappointed with the electronics. This seems like a good step in the right direction! It won't be as fast as a panigale on track, let's be real here, it's still way more powerful than what you need on the road! But that's what we want isn't it😂
Once again a great review Chopsie! Keep em coming! Love from Finland

I'm 6' and 200lbs... so carry some holiday weight from 2009 and I love this bike, finally a sport bike that doesn't require a chiropractor visit after half hour of riding. Also, i like the over all power because on high end power bike, I'm constantly testing my self control. Happens on my fxdr and r18... go for it people... just toss those antlers out

Ducati certainly know how to make stunning looking bikes. Even this is pretty tasty, if unusual. Their new limited edition v4 sp is the nicest looking bike ive seen. Ever.

They need the monster 1200s in it. That would be perfect for me.

It seems to be getting better and better. Some really positive reviews. It’s a shame that we will have to wait until the next iteration to lose some weight, when I assume that they will give it the new Monster frame. But if you like the trellis, it’s a classic. Nice one Chops!
