You forget a huge difference. The S you can remove the unit from the helmet and charge or put on another mount (on another helmet). On the R, the cables come out from the unit, not the mount.

50s owner here. Caught in downpour and shorted pretty much instantly. Lost coms with bike/navigation/tunes. Pulled unit while waiting the cloudburst out and worked once dried all connections. I’m new to these coms, and the OG dudes I ride with still using CB ( I don’t want to pay the hearty price of Honda CB with virtually a 1 year warranty).

You dont have to 'stop' and 're-pair' if you loose the connection on any of the Sena devices. Some just connect automaticaly and if not just press the jog dial again.

I see most link through your phone. This wont work as cell phones are useless where I ride. Do they work without cell service? I normally dont even take cell phone with me, I take a PLB.
