I don't think the institution as a whole is racist, but I do feel that there is a sense of institutionalized profiling going on, which can be said for many departments. I believe the inmate abuse comes from a lack of desensitization, poor leadership, and a strong union that protects deputies.

The male who was interviewed looked as if he was Caucasian, not making him a racial minority. However, he was still targeted and attacked by the deputies. I believe the conception of racism has been replaced by class conflict. It doesn't matter what your skin color is, but where you live, how you're dressed, and how muchoney you have.

We must instill a sense of fear into our government, letting them know that we give them their power to govern over us. Governing is not to be understood as oppressing and controlling, but rather serving us and protecting.
