A judge at The Central Criminal Court, also known as the Old Bailey, has sentenced former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, and Doctor Obinna Obeta to jail.

At a sentencing hearing on Friday, Ekweremadu was jailed for nine years and eight months, his wife Beatrice was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment while Obeta received a 10-year prison term.

The sentencing follows their conviction in March for organ trafficking. The Ekweremadus’ sick daughter, Sonia, was cleared of any wrongdoing.

I feel sad but all this would have been avoided if he had encouraged their Co thieves to equip our hospitals.

I hope the Nigeria Justice system is watching how things are properly done and can emulate this with regards to the election process and sentence anyone who participated in rigging the elections.

I'm glad this happened. I'm glad they realized that no one is above the law. They now know that the long arm of the law can catch up with anyone irrespective of their status in the society. They have experienced what the common men experience under their rule in Nigeria. It's a pity the Dr dragged himself into this shit.

What is the reporter talking, who cares if the victim lied, it has been proven that he was brought to the UK illegally. Please don’t start blaming the victim.

Which senator Ekweremadu is a good man .Did the prosecution tell the court that the senator is being investigated for corruption here. Did they tell the judge at a point his properties were forfeited to the FGN but later restored. Did they tell the court that as a lawyer of international repute he ought to have known the implications of what he was doing. Pls let him appeal the judgement and let's see if he will not get the maximum of ten years.i.e the balance of 2months will be added. May God bless the British.

How I wish Ekweremadu had encouraged and also pushed the Nigerian government to build specialist and world-class hospitals in Nigeria. This serves as a big lesson to all our corrupt politicians, especially Thief-nubu and Co. Millions of Nigerians have already died due to a lack of good healthcare. Shame on all the Nigerian politicians. Karma awaits all of them for all their wickedness towards Nigerians.

From the barrage of pleas by Nigerian dignitaries, it is clear to see why BIG men are rarely ever held accountable in Nigeria!
But for the British judiciary, Nigerian politicians would never be convicted, let alone jailed!
Speaks volumes about the Nigerian legal system!
A form of justice (or lack of it) for some while the masses can rot in jail for the slightest misdemeanor!

All these politicians are all the same. President Obasanjo says Ekweremadu is a good man. Can he tell us what Ekweremadu has done for Nigeria or his community. This should be a teaching moment for all Nigerian politicians. I am sorry but I think they all got all they deserve.

Is this lady reporting or sympathetic to the criminals from Nigeria. Nigeria is a crime scene with no rule of laws. So, UK did the right thing.
