I am old enough to remember watching the Watergate hearings almost half a century ago. As chilling as they were, they weren't nearly as disturbing as these hearings. It became clear that Nixon had broken the law, and must be removed as President, but it was not a question of a sitting President committing treason by attempting to interfere with the transition of power after a legitimate election with an overwhelming result - the most fundamental principle of American democracy.

Pence may have done the right thing, but Pence probably also knows a lot more and HE isn't telling. We need Pence to disclose the truth.

The closing remarks of Hon Judge Luttig carried weight and appropriate gravitas in describing the ongoing threat to US Democracy. It was refreshing to learn from Chairman Thompson in response, that various initiatives (including Constitutional reform) are being considered to protect the Republic from such insidious threats as those posed by Trump et al in 2024.

Breaking: Trump ex lawyer John Eastman sought pardon

Me: Well if no one else, I see an indictment coming eastman's way and if it does, will he take the fall or will he spill the beans as to what trump directed him to do.

Note that "Federalist Society" Luttig was behind putting Clarence Thomas on the Court, and that he facilitated his clerks Eastman and Ted Cruz clerking for Thomas. He needs to ask himself where HE went wrong.

At the same time his last statement, about Trump and his cronies and supporters being "a clear and present danger" had me in tears.

And I was waiting for him and Jacob, both "Federalist Society, " to use the word "democracy" -- I feared they wouldn't. But they did.

In addition to the comfort that these hearings are being conducted with perfect strategy, I love that there is some dignity brought back to a congressional proceeding. I'm sure I am not alone in being thoroughly disgusted at the theater, drama, and overall trashiness brought to the legislative branch in the past several years.
