Actually automotive manufacturing wasn't the first industry to be hit. Look at graphics cards, you've not been able to buy one anywhere close to the RRP for 3+ years. I believe ASICs are similar.

Why suddenly there's a chips shortage? Sudden increase demand fell from the sky? Didn't see this coming?

They have short supply, but with inflation concerns, they could increase prices to keep earnings elevated.

Sure there’s a chip shortage... or is it just inflation from massive debt to keep the stock market up

This industry needs continuous investment just to stay current. Process methodology becomes obsolete every few years. Intel's new investment announcements for example do not necessarily create a lot of more capacity as at the same time old capacity is scrapped due to being outdated.

___..Stocks for the next 5 years: Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Netflix.
Disney, Wells Fargo, Lowes, Nike for the recovery.
My family and friends use things from these companies every day so I know that these companies will continue to do well.
