Growing up in the 1960's and 70's we had the greatest music, rock and roll will never die.

1971, I was 21, still had a year left in my four year enlistment, after returning from Vietnam in late 69. I spent the rest of my enlistment at Chelsea Naval Hospital in Boston, living in an apartment with three like-minded brothers on the beach in Winthrop, Massachusetts. In 1971, I saw the Who, Black Sabath. Saw the Doors in 1970, and the Stones in 1972. Knew exactly what I was doing at the time whenever I hear any of those songs. That entire era had a major impact on my life. Here I am 55 years later, still in Boston, still married to the same nurse I met at Chelsea Naval, still loving this genre of Music!!

As a long haired 16 year old, I don't remember 1971, but I'll never forget it.

Graduated in 1972, looking back the music explosion in 1971 was epic and kicked off a couple decades of a wide spectrum of Rock, Blues, Metal, Folk and Progressive. Never to be repeated since!

1971, I won Billboard Magazine, Progressive Rock DJ of The Year, the equivalent of an Oscar in radio. What a totally great year for music, in fact all the 1970s was exceptional. I went on to win Radio Station of The Year and work in radio another 30 years.

I used to wonder why I enjoyed so many different genres then I realised that the unbelievably high standard of music meant that anything less than brilliant simply didn't make it. This selection confirms that.

What a time in music history. I was lucky lived in this amazing era and still play these classics as a 70-year-old.

This decade of music will never be repeated. Greatest times of my life. I get a bit sad sometimes thinking about it but then I just crank up the music and all becomes good. I still have over 50 LP’s from this era.
