L'antica Navalia romana, che forniva legna per gli scafi, divenuta Varagine in epoca medievale per la spiaggia adatta al varo delle navi, ospita oggi un moderno ed attrezzato porto turistico, tra rocce e pini marittimi. La storia di Varazze si legge anche nei bastioni medievali e nei resti della primitiva chiesa romanica di S. Ambrogio, nella nuova S. Ambrogio cinquecentesca, nella chiesa dei SS. Nazario e Celso coi disegni geometrici del sagrato a risseu.

Dal centro cittadino lungo lo straordinario tratto costiero in direzione levante si snodano una passeggiata pianeggiante e una lunghissima pista ciclabile (Lungomare Europa), con alcuni tratti che percorrono le gallerie della vecchia ferrovia, fra colorati arbusti di ginestre, lecci, piccole spiagge rocciose, il castello della famiglia Invrea ed il profumato verde della macchia mediterranea.

Varazze è rinomata stazione balneare, con lunghe spiagge sabbiose e deliziosi stabilimenti attrezzati; da segnalare alcuni tratti di costa caratterizzati da onde perfette, particolarmente apprezzate dagli appassionati di surf.
The ancient Roman Navalia, which supplied wood for the hulls, which became Varagine in medieval times due to the beach suitable for launching ships, now houses a modern and equipped tourist port, between rocks and maritime pines. The history of Varazze can also be read in the medieval ramparts and in the remains of the primitive Romanesque church of S. Ambrogio, in the new sixteenth-century S. Ambrogio, in the church of SS. Nazario and Celso with the geometric designs of the risseu churchyard.

From the city centre, along the extraordinary coastal stretch towards the east, a flat promenade and a very long cycle path (Lungomare Europa) wind their way, with some stretches running through the tunnels of the old railway, among colorful broom shrubs, holm oaks, small rocky beaches, the castle of the Invrea family and the fragrant greenery of the Mediterranean maquis.

Varazze is a renowned seaside resort, with long sandy beaches and delightful equipped establishments; worth noting are some stretches of coast characterized by perfect waves, particularly appreciated by surf enthusiasts.
