“Silver is so unique, 55% of it comes from 57% of land

“55% of silver is found on just 4/7 continents” huh, thought there would be more considering Antarctica is one of the remaining three, unless people are harvesting silver from the ocean

Correction: Gold and Silver have both been found in trace amounts on Antarctica. The problem is, the massive ice sheet (the Antarctic Glacial Sheet) covers the actual landmass of Antarctica (which is a series of smaller islands and a central landmass) with some areas being over a mile thick. It isn't so much that these metals aren't found there so much as we simply can't get to the main landmass to look for it or mine for it.

No worries. Science just found a local meteor with tons of it

Fun fact: 50% of the soil comes from 50% of the continents

More gold in Antarctica than all that has been found so far .

Same thing with gold. the amount of gold that's in the Earth is mind-boggling but we just can't get to it.

I hate to pop your bubble but I have some gold nuggets from Antarctica from the navy days mid 80s .

this reminds me of an insane thing that happened in a D&D game i was in but in regards to gold. Our party, ever the opportunists, liberated a cities gold as it was being overrun by zombies. The gm, either not caring or being stupid, gave us 64 billion gold pieces. In that edition 1gold coin is .02lbs. 50 coins to a lb. thats 1.28 billion lbs or 580762 tonnes. in our world, the total gold in circulation is 201296 tonnes above ground, and 53 identified tons underground. he gave us twice the amount of known gold in our world.

Check the facts at the beginning again. Gold was actually found at Antarctica recently by one of Bulgaria's expeditions :)

Antarctica has gold there is just a treaty there that prevents it from being mined and the subzero temperatures

Don't worry we can still built imperial star destroyer if we advance enough....someday

Yeah but silver takes a process to extract it from the ore, that's very toxic to the environment and people. It's nasty stuff.

Ye but antartica has titanium which is really valuable

7 ounces of silver are recovered for every ounce of gold. There's the rub.

Bro, there is less than 600, 000 tones of silver left to mine. We already mined 75% of it. We will literally run out in 20 years

There is just one flaw in your calculations, silver and gold probably did not initially exist on earth, they were later accumulated by asteroids hitting earth, which means the deeper down you go the lower the gold and silver concentration gets.

Obviously Antarctica has gold, as does the bottom of the ocean and the mantle of the earth. Heavy metal is more dense and therefor sinks when in liquid form. Gold usually gets to the surface through volcanic activity. Antarctica didn’t somehow miss out on the same geological processes that formed the other continents
