There is a strong connection between the timelessly brilliant work of Dave Rawlings/Gillian Welch and Neil Young. This track, "Cumberland Gap," from the Poor David's Almanack album really showcases that bond.

I searched for a "4 Dead in Ohio" and "Cumberland Gap" mash up but this works really really well too.

I was gonna learn this on acoustic, but then found this gem. Gonna have to learn it on electric now 👍

Fan-freaking-tastic! Another killer rendition. I love the fact that you thought to bring Neil Young and David Rawlings together... Now I want to hear Neil Young actually cover that song.

Nice, and good point! They even borrowed the line "with the daylight in your eyes" from Neil Young's "Don't let it bring you down".

Nice playing, Eric! Love that Starfire iii, too. Unfortunately there just aren't enough vids that showcase this baby properly, so I appreciate your using the "right" tool, skillfully at that, in this vid. Cheers.

Eric, Wonderful tone and arrangement. Gosh. Now I need to write lyrics to whatever I can create from your chord shapes here but change it, add my own style and rearrange it differently so that’s it’s something new. You know what I mean. Your playing has inspired me to write a few songs that I will be releasing this summer on a 10 song album. Love what you do. Our styles are so much on the same wavelength.

On one of Rawlings earlier albums, I forget the name, he actually does a 15 minute cut. After about 7 minute he goes right into "Cortez the Killer". One of Young and Crazy Horse's best electric cuts IMO.

They've stolen the chords from Country Girl by CSN&Y several times, Tennessee from The Harrow and The Harvest for example. You mention Richard Thompson. I'm in love with two songs from his You? Me? Us? album which I find incredible and I'd ask you to take a listen to - Disc 2 – "Nude"
"Baby Don't Know What To Do With Herself"
"She Cut Off Her Long Silken Hair"
