Top 1000 Songs of the 80s (Part 5)

Показать описание
This video presents the fifth and final part of the Top 1000 songs of the eighties (200-1). The source for this video is the Billboard Hot 100, and songs were given points according to their peak, weeks on chart, weeks in the Top 40, and in the Top 10. The lowest peak considered was #11. In order to make a more comprehensive list, all peaks should be considered, but it is a mammoth job, which we'll consider doing someday.

Please note that all songs peaked during the eighties, so it does not include hits like "Escape" by Rupert Holmes, which spent a week at #1 in 1980 but had its first week at number 1 in 1979. In comparison, "Another Day In Paradise" by Phil Collins spent two weeks at #1 in 1990, but its first two weeks on top were in 1989, so its entire chart run was considered for this video and will not appear in the one for the 90s.

This channel does not own the songs and the video has been created for information/entertaining/promotion purposes. If you like a song, please visit the official artist channel or purchase/stream the song on your favorite platform.

Enjoy it!
Thanks for watching!

This series has been really great, I wish that music was still being made that way today. It’s been so nostalgic, and brought back so many good memories. Thank you for the amazing work you did on these videos. 👍

Let's get physical!
Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" took the US Billboard Hot 100 chart by storm with that impressive 10-week run at #1 between 1981 and 1982. Biggest single of the 80s in the USA.

Hot Music Charts, great job with this series of Videos.
Greatly appreciated.
Also great to see so many Australian artists in the Top 200.

So many of these songs were my childhood (born in 81). Many of these I had listened to with my mom. I was smiling throughout the video collections. You did an AMAZING JOB on this compilation. Thank you so much for these videos. 🥰🥰🥰

Love being taken back to that time. I was a teenager and in my early 20s in the 80s. Simply the best music and times. Thanks for taking us back, if only briefly.

Nice job with this series.

Incredible that 48 of the top 50 songs of the 80s came in the first half of the decade (1980-84). Only two songs from the second half (1985-1989) cracked the top 50, the highest at No. 35 (That’s What Friends Are For). Did we just have shorter attention spans as the years progressed, so the top hits had less staying power? I know Billboard changed the calculation method for ranking the Hot 100, but I thought that was in the 90s, so it shouldn’t have affected this countdown.

I just wanted to say thank you. Your completion videos and weekly charts i know they take a lot of time to put together. Once again thank you.

Well done. A lot of work and great to see statistics given a run. Show me the 50 year old that hasn't head every song. Good stuff.

I watched all five parts of this series and I remembered a lot of these songs. However, there is one popular song from the 80s which I couldn't find. I am having difficulty identifying a certain song. I know I've heard it when I was a child in the 80s or early 90s. I heard it at a Burlington's in 2021, and then I heard it at a Giant food store in 2022. The song seems like it would be considered 80s synth-pop. The vocalist is a white male. I only have partial lyrics which would be in the chorus. The chorus goes something like this: It'll be the last time to get with you, ONE LAST TIME TO CATCH THIS FIRE. The part which is in all caps is the part I'm most certain about, but it might actually be ONE MORE TIME TO CATCH THIS FIRE. Can you help me identify this song?

Sweet Child O' Mine 142? Take On Me 153? Everbody Wants To Rule The World 115? No U2, Journey in Top 100? No Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Joy Division, Pixies, Kiss in Top 200?

I know that if you’re going to examine the 1000 Songs of the 80’s, you have to start at #1000 and simply take it from there. Martha Quinn may be of some assistance, but I believe you should do it yourself. MTV’S COMPLETE 80’s LIBRARY RIGHT THERE. Kenneth Huang 9/05/23.

Gente... Quem fez essa seleção? Tem muita coisa boa, mas também tem umas porcarias. Músicas importantes ficaram de fora, como: SAVE A PRAYER (Duran Duran); PRIDE, NEW YEAR'S DAY; SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY (U2); HUNTING HIGH AND LOW (A-ha); etc.

Man-eater was way ahead of I can't go for that, the biggest song by Hall and Oates. I do like that Rosanna was ahead of Africa by a lot. Because Rosanna was the actual biggest song. It spent five weeks behind Survivor.
