EU leaders are meeting for a two-day summit in the shadow of a dispute with member state Poland.

The EU may impose sanctions on Poland over a ruling by its highest court that some parts of EU law are incompatible with the Polish constitution.

EU case law rests on the principle that EU law has supremacy over national laws. The Polish government has been accused of politicising the judiciary.

The government alleges EU "blackmail".

Poland aren't 'crying' blackmail as you put it, the 'are' being blackmailed.

"Cries" : what a manipulative language. As almost always BBC suggests what you have to think. In this case "Poland complains without reason". It's really pathetic journalism.

They arnt crying blackmail, the EU is trying to overreach their non-existent democratic mandate in order to dictate the internal workings of a member state.
I wonder what kind of government dictates things?

It’s ok for Germany and French courts to say there courts over rule EU law, but not Poland’s. The EU commission needs to be overhauled and all commissioners voted in by the 27 countries not invited in by other commissioners

Poland didn’t cry.
They put their foot down.
Let Go Ursula!
The EU has been told and it doesn’t look good for Brussels.
Ursula’s backside is literally black and blue from all the slapping it got last week.
Funny how it took The BBC so long to spin this.
We are lucky we left…. Poland is going through the same things that made us leave.
What comes next? Polexit just round the corner.

'Cries'....what a joke the BBC are.

When the BBC uses emotive language like 'cries' rather than 'says' then you know you've got a serious lack of Impartial and unbiased reporting. I'm surprised they didn't have Lord Adonis and Steve Bray on to share their 'Impartial' thoughts on the matter?

"Cries..."

This is the reason why the trust in BBC and just about any other news media is at an all time low.
Good thing I've only been watching BBC for its satire now...
