Guest speaker Fred Dean is a retired lawyer who works with elected officials and senior staff, giving them tools to make effective decisions on behalf of their communities. Since 2002, Fred Dean has facilitated training to members of council and heads of council to help elected officials get a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Council.

This workshop is designed to help you decide whether to run for council, and will provide information on the impact that the duties and responsibilities of public office will have on your life. This is not a debate forum nor is it dealing with the technical aspects of running a campaign

Other topics will include: Municipal Powers, Public's Role in Local Government, Difference between Governance and Administration, Municipal Conflict of Interest and other personal responsibilities.
