@plmvirginiauva The drive comes with a CD: "Super Multi Blue Install Disc" by LG . The disc contains Cyberlink's PowerDVD, Power2Go v.6, Mediashow, Power backup, Powerproducer, Labelprint and Youcam. I use Power2Go Data Disc mode to burn bluray discs, both data and movies, since this, probably lite, version of Power2Go has no blu-ray video disc mode, only DVD. However, Data Disc mode is OK for blu-ray movies too. You can upgrade to Power2Go v7. for $ 28, but I didn't try that.

@Jules7892 12x for Blu-ray today is impressive speed. Technology is improving everyday. Remember the year when 12 x speed for a CD burner was hot (12 x 150 kb !), that is not so long ago.

The lifespan of the discs is probably longer than the drive, but mine is still functional. I believe warranty here in Europe is two years now, but LG should have replaced it if it died so early even with a one year warranty. You expect a drive to work at least for several years.

@plmvirginiauva I use Power2Go to create Blu-ray movies. These movies can be played by any blu-ray player. However, a blu-ray player only reads discs with standard blu-ray disc format, containing subdirs \BDMV, \CERTIFICATE and sometimes \AACS and moviestream in .m2ts format. To play HD video in wmv or mp4 format you need a HD mediaplayer with HDMI output or a PC. It is not worthwile to convert wmv or mp4 files to BD format. Typically 1.5 hour BD movie is 20 GB and similar wmv movie 10 GB.

@AJApper I got a LG LT-10 Blu-Ray Multi-RECORDER Drive for 125 Euros or $156.00 here in CANADA. The RECORD Speed is 12x on BD-R 25 Gigabyte Discs and 4x on 50 Gigabyte BD-RE Discs. Playback is 128x Easy Smooth Blu-Ray Movie Performance Smooth++++!!!!

Nope they did not replace either of the first two, bad customer service, very bad. The third one that died I returned it to newegg for a full refund not LG. Yes for the $100 a piece I spent on those two first writers I did expect them to last at minimum 4 years. Sad thing is unfortunately LG has saturated the blu ray writer market. I walked into fry electronics and the only writers they had were LG models, had to go back to newegg to buy my Asus blu ray writer.

Bought two of these drives and both died 14 and 15 months later. LG garbage, customer service told me both drives were out of warranty and suggested I buy another. So what did I do, like a idiot I bought a newer lg model burner and it died in 2 weeks, returned for a full refund and went with a asus blu ray writer. Will never buy lg again.
