This show hit it so far out of the park that it's still going.

The actors and the writers make you feel every single loss in BG, like you were in combat with these people yourself, they feel absolutely real

I vaguely remember reading or hearing back when this show was still airing that the writer's loved Luciano Carro's performance as Kat in her first couple of episodes that they decided to keep her on and write her in as a more major role. Well deserved!

Is Battlestar Galactica the greatest sci-fi space drama to date?
I can't think of anything better.

The smallest things stand out the most. Adama is so gentle when he puts her name on top of the whiteboard, he hesitates to let it go until it's perfectly aligned and straight. Despite his son being on the ship the entire time you only really see his real human side a few times, and it hits you how every single person he sends to die is personal - it's like he's losing his family every day. There's a reason that those in command in the military try to distance themselves from their soldiers... How could you send your friend or your son or your daughter to war? He feels every single person that dies and, more than that, he doesn't let it destroy him. Instead of revenge he is always fighting to protect the rest of his family. I'm amazed that he didn't pull out his sidearm and blow his brains out in the show's finale. All that loss and the he only has the objective of protecting his family to keep him going.

Apart from everything else, this show really nailed it with it's music!

Maybe the best, absolutely the most depressing, show on TV ever.

one of the few shows that takes characters that show up for one/two episodes, yet create whole arcs for them when they shine so brightly in those few moments.

One of the greatest shows in television history- and this scene from the acting to the music shows why. If you can watch this without crying you have no heart at all. Just brilliant performance from everyone

I like how Adama is Hispanic.
The original Galactica, well he was quite white, which is great as well.
But it's nice that he's Hispanic too.
