Got minor frostbite on my toes one time and just sat in the shower on the brink of tears from the pain waiting to warm. Would not recommend.

As another EMT, here, do not do this to your entire body. If you are hypothermic, you need to be warmed from the inside out, with fluids, in a hospital. Do not soak in a bath OR quickly rewarm yourself. Your heart cannot handle that and you will go into cardiac arrest. The tips shared in this video will only work on extremities. But, this guy does know what hes talking about. These are great tips for your frostbitten extremities

I remember riding my motorcycle during the wintertime when the roads were dry and the feeling of my hands warming up again when I got inside was one of the worst pains I’ve ever felt before

A friend of mine lost the tips of all his fingers to frostbite while stranded in Michigan. The worst part was he worked as an ASL translator/tutor 😭

I had ingrown toenails that caused "wild flesh" to grow from the infection. The doctor froze it so if would fall off. The pain is unimaginable and will make you cry. Frostbite is no joke.

As winter's have been getting worse over the last few years, and I can't afford decent winter clothing, I'm really happy to have seen this! Thank you!

Intense is a word used by someone that hasn't had black fingers, it's some of the worst pain I've ever experienced (on my fingers and below knee amputation "stumps" I have some PTS from my experience 😒 but I still have useable fingers just no feelings in my hands other than nerve pain

Frostbite was one of the worst pains that i had ever felt in my life. I couldn't move my hands. They were too numb and a bit pale/white. It turned more red over time while i was warning them lol. I had to back out to help my poor mum, though, in despite of my hands.

I almost got frostbite, it was the worst pain I have ever experienced from cold before in my life. I had pulled over to sleep in my backseat of my car overnight because I was too tired to make it the extra hour and a half to the motel I was aiming for in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I had drifted off the road 3 times, the rumble strips waking me up. There was nothing open for miles, so I had no way to procure shelter or even a coffee or energy drink. I had exhausted every option- music, shows, stretching, cold air on my face, water on my eyelids, snacking. I was just too tired. So I pulled over and parked in front of what I thought was a hospital (and honestly, looking back now, I should have just gone inside and explained the situation. But everybody had been less than pleasant on this trip and I didn't think being tired warranted enough of an emergency for them to help me in any way, or let me sleeo in the lobby. Plus I had slept comfortably in my car many times, it seemed better than a noisy, bright hospitak lobby.) However I had no heater in my car. Nor a heating blanket. So I laid under my 5 blankets with my warmest winter clothes, wool socks on, and I bately slept an hour all night with how cold I was and could not stop shivering. I was in discomfort all night. But when I tried to get up and drive again come morning, I was in PAIN. My fingers wouldn't bend, I had to scrape ice off my windows, and I was crying in sheer anger from the pain. I found a walmart about a 30 minute drive away (painfully driving because stiff fingers and toes), gathered some clothes in my bag with difficulty, then trudged inside to their restroom. I ran my feet under the hot water, and my fingers, then walked around inside leaning on a cart for almost an hour, before I finally just felt this surge of warmth in my toes and went "mom, I can feel my toes again!" (Was on the phone with her while I walked around). It's scary stuff.

Best thing to remember for hypothermia, heat up slowly; for hyperthermia (e.g. heat stroke) cool down quickly.
