I use this recipe for my bath salts. I use natural seat salt in my laundry cleaning recipe. Just use vinegar in your rinse cycle if you don’t use a dryer or make the dryer sheets she makes if you use a dryer.

This recipe sounds amazing so I decided to give it a go. I have used it a few times and I agree it does make my laundry softer but not really scented. I then researched the benefits of epsom salt and it turns out Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate which makes hard water even harder creating more soap scums.

Knowing this fact I’m feeling a little reluctant to continue using this recipe to avoid damaging my expensive washing machine.

Has anyone experienced any issues with their machine after using this recipe for a long time?

How do I make the scents last though a dryer? It smells amazing coming out of a washing machine but the smell gets reduced by like 90% after a dryer cycle.

I am going to stick with just plain white vinegar and a few drops of lavender pure oil and a few drops of tea tree oil.
I think too many ingredients causes too much build up in your machine which can cause damage to your machine and to your clothing and even your health.
Many DIY laundry detergent which is mainly in dry ingredients don't really dissolve in water and just build up on your machine as well as your clothing.
A personally rather use name brand liquid laundry detergent 1 tbsp to 2 tablespoons per load is more than you need to clean your clothing.
And plain white vinegar with a few drops of your favorite pure essential oils is more than enough to soften your clothing.
If you want to add some sent to your clothing just do it in the dryer with a wooly ball and some pure essential oils.
One 8 oz glass spray bottle.
2 tbsp of witch hazel.
25 drops of lavender pure essential oil or whatever sent you would like.
I do 20 drops of lavender and 5 drops of tea tree.
It depends on how strong you want the smell of your laundry to be.
Some distilled water mix it all together in a bowl use a funnel to fill your glass bottle.
One or two wooly balls.
Spray once or twice or more onto the wooly ball before placing it into the dryer with your clothing.
The simple way is the easy way.
And less is always more.
And hand washing and hanging your clothes outside saves on energy.
I believe that everyone should know how to hand wash their clothing as well as gather water for emergency purposes.
Just in case your washing machine or your dryer breaks.
And just in case the power goes out.
It is hard work but someone has to do it.
It is always nice to know how other people wash and dry their clothing.

Good day. I did this step by step, BUT I only used Lemon Grass Essentiol Oil. I am very disappointed because I can not smell the fragrance at all. My close smells like old soap without fragrance.😢 What did I do wrong?
