South Central Florida Express Fort Pierce Turn

preview_player
Показать описание
A chase of the South Central Florida Express' Fort Pierce turn with catches in Fort Pierce and Port Mayaca.

I start as the train departs the Florida East Coast Railway's Fort Pierce yard and turns onto the railroad's K branch to head west.

The rest of the video is in Port Mayaca. This is the location of a 1923 lift bridge that the train needs to cross. I include a full look at the bridge lowering followed by the train crossing it.

This was filmed on April 15, 2021.

Great drone shots that show the train in its landscape context, and excellent production values. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Wisconsin.

Notice the supports are at an angle at the Port Mayaka bridge! I was on the Lake Harbor turn in the late ‘80’s. FECc dispatcher lowered and raised it using telephone line serviced by Indiantown Telephone Company.

I heard that Brightline wants to build a highspeed train between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I cannot wait cause it takes 3 hours to get there right now.

Nice job. Really love your channel. Any chance you can do a video on why the FEC typically runs two locomotives with a tank car in between? Not something you typically see. I assume it is fuel for extra endurance or a long round trip. Maybe lack of fueling at one end? Keep up the great work, especially the Brightline updates!

You should catch their steam engine 148 whenever it runs.
