Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer Magnus Watercolor Pencils Review.

The Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer Magnus watercolor pencils deserve their own video review. These are larger and softer watercolor pencils designed for bigger works of art.

The core of these pencils is a huge 5.3 mm compared to the 3.8mm of the original Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils. These pencils are very comfortable in the hand despite their large size. They are also softer than the originals and but are the core is still bonded to the wood to reduce the risk of breakages. Additionally all the pencils in the Magnus line have the highest lightfast rating making these perfect for works you plan to display. Though I didn't have a canvas to test I certain these would perform well on canvas due to their size and quality.

Overall these are amazing large and fun pencils. These are truly special their softness makes them a true pleasure to work with. Thank you to the great folks at Faber Castell for sending me these for review!

I know almost nothing about colored pencils, but I do enjoy using them. I am very impressed with the color charts of the different pencil products, and realize that you have a firm grasp on the pencil products' effectiveness in different projects. Maybe one day I will know a quarter of what you have already learned and applied. I enjoyed listening to your clear and concise review.

Nice review Karia. Really good to see the comparison against the Derwent watercolour pencils. I have the Derwent and do consider them rather lacklustre as far as vibrancy, also they appear rather opaque at high colouration. My inktense pencils are way more vibrant and do dry permanent like the Albrecht Durer. My only downside with the Inktense, is the tendency of some colours to lay down dry very different in colour and vibrancy to when activated with water, which makes it very tricky to lay down the right colour blends.... this does not appear to be a problem with the Albrecht Durer.

I find that if I like the yellow I normally like the line. If I sample the yellow and I don't like it, I don't like the line. Not always but most of the time.

I just got a set of 12 Polychromos. I am saving up for a bigger set but in the meantime I got a pretty good deal using a coupon. I do enjoy them - they are the same 12 colors you have there. I think every set of colored anything should contain at least the famous Crayola 8. I use purple or violet often and am a little disappointed there isn't one in this set. I know they come open stock but I think I will wait until I can get my larger set. But as usual I did enjoy your demonstration in this video. You definitely do justice to the products you review :-)

My only beef with this line is that they don't sell open stock pencils in my country yet. Or else it would be great to buy the 30 pencils wooden box and keep reestocking it, specially considering the better lightfastness. For now, as you use them all, you just end with a sad empty box 😞

Oh God, thanks, I was searching for a video like this, when we can see the chart being made. I am still learning about water color pencils... The colors are not like 100% soluble (we can still se the sqare that you made with the dry pencil). But this is normal for watercolor pencils, they are not like pans or tubes. I just bought the 120 set of Albrecht Dürer, I was thinking that my set was with some problem because I can still see the lines made with dry pencil (but not so much, just like you made here). But thanks, this is normal with watercolor pencils.

Faber Castel description on Amazon says that these Watercolor pencils are permanent once they’re dry is that true.
