If your family is steadily expanding beyond the second row of your SUV, there is no reason to get upset about not driving fast ever again. There are quite a few spacious family vehicles that are actually approaching the 200 miles per hour mark. Today will be exploring these fastest 3-row giants that possess supercar like speeds, explosive acceleration and unprecedented driving dynamics.

While the Range Rover Sport can be optioned with a variety of performance engines, including 2 mild-hybrids or a PHEV, if you are looking for the fastest 7-seat configuration in the mix, it is definitely the HSE trim with Dynamic Pack.

Fully redesigned for the 2020 model year, the Explorer also gets its first, performance-focused ST model. It offers a maximum speed of 143 mph and can be purchased either as a 6 or a 7-seater.

The updated AMG GLE family has several high-performance models to choose from, including the top of the line 63 S, but unfortunately it cannot be optioned with a 3rd row of seats. For this reason, our choice falls on its lesser specced AMG GLE 53 SUV, that has a top speed of 155mph and for extra 2 grand can be turned into large family hauler.

Previously offered as a diesel-only model, this year, 2020 Audi SQ7 debuts on the US market with as gasoline drivetrain at heart. It generates 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, making it the quickest SQ7 model yet, capable to perform a 0-60 run in mere 4.3 seconds. The model’s top speed matches the diesel at 155mph.

#6 2020 Tesla Model X Performance

As of today, the Model X is the only production electric 7-seater on the market. It is well-known as the quickest accelerating SUV in the world covering 0-60 sprints in 2.6, but few people realize that it is also one of the fastest 3-rows as well.

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4Matic belongs to the 3rd generation of GLS SUV, offering S-Class levels of luxury and beating all of its predecessors in terms of speed and acceleration. The model promises a maximum speed of 155 mph, which can be upped to 174 mph with an optional Driver’s package. At 4.1 seconds, its 0 to 60 acceleration is also more than competitive.

All car enthusiasts know that when Dodge slaps the SRT badge on a model, it is guaranteed to offer whopping power and lots of performance-oriented tweaks. This is also the case for the Durango SRT three-row SUV, which can drive your kids to school faster than a sport car.

The X7 was first try in the full-size SUV segment by BMW, that took a solid middle spot in terms of top speed after receiving a performance treatment in the M50i version. Alpina, however, weren’t ready to accept this status of an ordinarily fast three-row and released the XB7.

Though Brabus 850 XL Widestar based on the AMG GLS 63 is already quite old, belonging to the previous generation of the model, it still deserves to be mentioned as the fastest 7-seater of today. It almost reaches Urus and Bentayga’s levels of speed, topping out at 186 mph.

The Tesla X is strictly a city car and where in the city will you drive 163 MPH? I say city car as even if you ran flat out you could not keep up with a Toyota Highlander or Sequoia driving from Salt Lake city to Los Angeles even if it were driven flat out all the way. Which it could not. Even Tesla says that if you use their Ridiculous mode too often you will drastically shorten the battery life. They claim a range of 305 miles and top speed of 163 but neither they, nor you do not mention that it can't do both at the same time. Running flat out they would be lucky if they could even go 100 miles instead of 305. Traveling at speed limits around 80MPH, they will go around 230 according to friends that own one. Then you will have to refill the "tank" which will take several hours before you can continue. (Assuming you run out of go juice in a place with a supercharger, otherwise it could be days) Meanwhile the ICE vehicle will be merrily eating up ;the miles going around 400 miles to a fill up and then only taking 10-12 minutes at a time getting you to L.A. hours before the Tesla.
So the Tesla is really a SLOW car compared to ICE vehicles. Sorry, I just tell it like it is.

Why not include the fastest models of the cars shown? Why not show the GLE 63s, QRS 7, or the Durango hellcat?

Off subject:Millennials at Ford have no respect for Mustang's iconic Historical Automotive Heritage value.
Henry Ford Jr., Carroll Shelby, Lee Iacocca, and Steve McQueen are all turning over in their graves. It is a nice looking electric powered SUV, should not have called a Mustang
There's an independent company which makes an all electric powered Mustang Fastback called the Lithium
This should have been called the Galaxy 500E or Falcon-E
The 4 door variant removes all past, present, and future Mustang's from the Muscle Car category shared with the Challenger and Camaro.
The Dodge Charger was removed from this segment with the 4 door variant.
HellCat owners asked " what about the HellCat Charger " and my response is they're are comfortable family oriented sleepers.
My 2016 Mustang is the last Ford I will buy.
Going British and or German
Porsche Cayman or 911, Cayenne if not these Jaguar F-Type or F-Pace
Aston Martin Vantage perhaps

Of course, the main reason these SUVs is to go 200MPH on the way to pick up the kids from soccer practice

Forgot to mention the Jeep Trackhawk with 707 horsepower
With tarmac under its feet, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph) thanks to its the Hellcat-derived, 707 HP 6.2-liter V8.
