Trying to explain how the Combo Tool works

The Victorinox Combo tool as a can opener is not as fast or efficient as the "Parrot Beak" type can opener on the Wenger knife @ 8:41. Although the Combo tool does work as a can opener, its blunt tip has more difficulty piercing through a metal can than a "Parrot Beak" type can opener which is also used on Leatherman Multi-Tools. On the other hand, the "Lobster Claw" type can opener @ 10:32 cuts a can by an upward lift on its handle which is also used on German Army Cutlery Kits. The "Parrot Beak" type can opener @ 10:53 cuts a can by a downward push on its sharp pointed tip. In other words, the "Lobster Claw" cuts from underneath the can lid whereas the "Parrot Beak" cuts from the top of the can lid.

Great unbiased approach to the video and explanation of the combo tool. The can opener does work and the screwdriver parts are effective in a pinch, as designed. Thank you for the video! I'm going with the bantam Alox for my needs! Jeff

I never thought of the bottle opener as an open for a can opener till now. Very cool!!

I've only got one knife that has the combo tool, a 111mm Hunter. I actually used it to open a can when I was at the deer camp last year, and it worked pretty good! Great video, buddy!

My favorite Victorinox 91mm knife that has the combo tool is the retired Trail Guide which is only 3 layers... love it for it's size (not bulky), and has the large knife blade, scissors, metal/nail file (plus corkscrew and parcel hook)... also my favorite knife to customize.
Gotta admit that I have never tried opening a can with any of my knives... good to see how easy they work... thanks !

I don't carry my Compact anymore because of that combo tool. Unscrewing a phillips head screw, one quarter of a turn at a time just took long. I love my Super Tinker, Handyman and Swiss Champ (in the Victorinox Leather sheaf. Every wine bottle I open has screw tops or the corks have that big knob, so you can work them out before they pop. Very informative video. Thanks

I just swapped the small blade on my cybertool for the combo tool. This let me remove the bottle / can / awl layer. Love the efficiency. Also swapped main blade for serrated, and added saw layer.

I find it weird that the idiots on TikTok don’t know. I’m waiting on a Waiter to be delivered and I checked out a bajillion videos beforehand. Nice video and good demo.
